At the January 7th is the 17 anniversary of the murder of Oury Jallo. 2001 Oury was burn after torture in a jail of the police department of Dessau. To this day, the murderers get no judgement and are covered by the German state and his trials. A couples of reports of an international independent researching commission devices the murder of Oury Jalloh and discard the lie that Oury Jalloh has burned himself.

On Sunday 02 January, the Oxnard Revolutionary Study Group celebrated Chairman Mao's birthday at their monthly meeting at Southwinds Park in Oxnard, California. About 30 people participated in the event where Chairman Mao's document "Serving the People" was studied. Young children decorated a banner and painted fabric with the words "Long Live Mao!". Activists gave speeches explaining Maoism and calling on those present to participate in local people's struggles.

Comrades from Tjen Folket Media report, that actions were made marking the 128^th year of the birth of Chairman Mao, with the slogan “Long live Maoism!” seen on wall paintings and bannersin Oslo, Kristiansand, Stavanger and Trondheim, as well as actions on the Communist Party of the Philipines. In addition to the actions, the international declaration “UNITE UNDER MAOISM!” has been translated and shared on the website.
