In France, the first round of regional and departmental elections is due on the 20th of June.

In Freiburg, various revolutionary and progressive organizations held a rally in the working-class district of Weingarten on the eve of May Day. Under the slogan "Against the state of emergency and crisis!" about 50 people gathered on the forecourt of the local shopping center, among them a contingent of proletarian revolutionaries.

In Bremen there was a solidarity presentation on the current situation of the revolutionary peasant movement in Brazil. Besides general information, special attention was given to the offensive of the old Brazilian state against the peasants in Rondônia in Camp Manoel Ribeiro.

This year, NATO is once again practicing mobilization against Russia as part of its "Defender" maneuver. After focusing on the Baltic Sea region last year, the Black Sea region is now on the agenda. After decades of successful aggression against Russia, the invasion of Crimea was the first clear defeat for the Western imperialists. So the focus countries are Romania and Bulgaria located next to the Black Sea. In parallel, U.S. forces with their semi-colonial "allies" are also practicing deployment against China in the Pacific region.

Denmark

In Denmark a painting was seen in Copenhagen on occasion of the 150 year anniversary of the Paris Commune. The painting shows the hammer and sickle on red flag and has the slogan "Proletarians of all countries unite!"

NATO countries increased their military budgets to $1.1 trillion last year despite the economic crisis. The European countries and Canada in particular increased their budgets, as the Yankees have been demanding for years. This means that the 30 NATO member states are now responsible for 60% of all global military spending. This is further clear evidence that this alleged "alliance of values" is not about defense. They are arming themselves in order to counter the imperialist competition from China and Russia even more aggressively.

The FRG government is also determined to stick to the so-called 2% target. For 2020, it has announced military spending of 51.5 billion euros, although the defense budget is 45.65 billion. This means that the cost of armaments is hidden in other budget items. In the federal government's Corona stimulus package of 2020, they not only approved additional armament projects, but also a new cyber center for the Bundeswehr for 500 million euros. Thus, the imperialist war machine is being further expanded under the guise of fighting a pandemic. And such budgetary trickery is not an isolated case. So-called EU missions in Africa, in which Bundeswehr soldiers were also involved, were in the past also gladly paid from the EU development aid budget.

The anti-militarist "Informationsstelle Militarisierung" sees the arms industry and the Bundeswehr as clear winners of the crisis: "In political terms, the German government is trying to use the Corona pandemic to increase military spending even further." (own translation)

On occasion of the Women's International Day of Struggle  various cities in NRW manifestations and actions took place. A detachment of proletarian revolutionaries participated yesterday in the manifestation in Wuppertal to which a wide internationalist alliance had called for. In the course of the day a banner with the slogan “Women forwards to the 8th of March” was hung well in sight in one of the proletarian neighborhoods in Essen. Henceforth, some of the images we received:

On the occasion of the murder of Pierre Overney 49 years ago, a lecture on the Gauche Proletarienne was held at the Café Popular. Pierre Overney was a worker and militant of the Gauche Proletarienne. On February 25, 1972, he distributed leaflets in front of a Renault factory to mobilize for an anti-fascist demonstration. There he was shot by a factory security guard.
