We are publish an unofficial translation of a contribution by the comrades of the Sol Rojo popular movement from Mexico.
As we have already documented, on 27 October an armed commando attacked the house of Erick Sanchez, regional leader of the Sol Rojo Popular Movement in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec; in this attack Erick was seriously injured and comrade Jesus Manuel Garcia Martinez "Chu Pau" was killed, both community members of Santa Cruz Tagolaba, a community in resistance to the enforcement of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. In response, a series of protests were called in both Tehuantepec and Oaxaca City. Simultaneous demonstrations will be held on Wednesday 9 November demanding justice for the comrades and punishment for the perpetrators. In a brief statement, Yolanda Ruiz, spokesperson for Corriente del pueblo Sol Rojo, said, "Criminalisation, political persecution, forced disappearances and the murder of opponents is the daily practice of the regime, from 2018 until today 136 comrades of the popular movement have been murdered in the country, including two activists from our organisation. Luis Armando [Fuentes Aquino] and Jesús Manuel [García Martínez], both communards, both defenders of the country, both opponents of the imperialist mega-projects; in addition, our comrade Ernesto Sernas García has disappeared. These are not isolated cases, but a counter-insurgency operation that is part of the war against the people". Further protest actions are expected at different times.
