In the following we want to give a short brief on some of the recent actions and developments in People´s War in India, led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist) (CPI[Maoist]).

 

On April 10, an assistant constable of the police were killed on a local market in Mirtur village, in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. According to bourgeoisie media, suspected members of the People´s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), dressed in civil clothes approched to the subject and killed by a stabbing weapon, before retreating. 1

 

On April 9, a police team were ambushed by suspected combatants of the PLGA during a search operation near Kistarampadu village in Bhadradri Kothagudem of Telangana. According to bourgeoisie media the “team was checking vehicles on Pedamidicileru village outskirts when he received information about the presence of Maoists in the area. They were planing to torch earthmover and blade tractors that are being used in trench works of forest department. The CI immediately reached the spot and came under attack […]”. In response, the reactionary security forces initiated pursuit of the revolutionary forces, but were again ambushed. 2

 

For April 8, the CPI (Maoist) called for a bandh in the district of Jungle Mahal, in the state of West Bengal, which according to initial reports was a huge success. “A number of blocks including Sarenga, Simlapal, Ranibandh, Raipur, Bandwan, Jhalda, Belpahari etc in Bankura, Purulia and Jhargram districts adjoining Jharkhand witnessed complete bandh days after Maoist posters were found at various places […] No buses except a few run by the State Government and other vehicles plied on roads that wore deserted look and shops and other business establishments were closed, sources said adding the schools including the ones run by the Government [...]”3
