In various districts of Hamburg, there were once again targeted attacks on the police by youths on Halloween night from 31 October to 01 November. As has become common in Hamburg on Halloween, cops were repeatedly pelted with stones, firecrackers or eggs, for example in Harburg and Wilhelmsburg. In the working class neighbourhoods of Billstedt and Osdorf, numerous rubbish bins were set on fire.

The Hamburg police themselves wrote about this in their press release:
"In the past few years, there have repeatedly been targeted assaults against police forces on Halloween evening in various parts of the city. Against the backdrop of these experiences, the Hamburg police have once again deployed an increased number of forces for the Halloween event and were able to draw on a large reserve of the state police force.

In the course of the evening, firecrackers and eggs were thrown in various parts of the city, and in some cases people were found with alarm guns, soft air weapons or apparent weapons."

Hamburg Jugendliche kämpfen an Halloween gegen die Polizei

While the youth are contemptuously called "rioters" by the police and the bourgeois press, the fights around Halloween clearly show the justified class hatred of the youth towards this system and its representatives. The struggles were a rebellion against this system and everything it represents, because in this system there is no perspective for the youth anymore. Struggles like these show the huge potential of the youth in this country, because they are not just mindless riots, but anger against the old and a cry for the new. This huge potential must be unleashed for the struggle for proletarian revolution. Only in this way will the youth regain a perspective.
