Around the first anniversary of the withdrawal of the autonomy rights of the Kashmiri people, further armed actions were carried out against the old Indian state in occupied Kashmir (The reaction calls it the federal state of Jammu and Kashmir).
On August 06, security forces, enforcing a total lockdown, were attacked with a grenade and live ammunition in the city of Srinagar. Also on August 05, a village chief of the ruling BJP were shot at Vessu, Qaizgund in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, the target person died in hospital. The attackers managed to retreat from the scene and the initiated search operation of the reaction were unsuccessful. A day before another BJP member where attacked at Akhran, Qazigund in Kulgam district and suffered multiple bullet injuries and is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The reaction laid out barbed wire and set up road blocks all over Kashmir to prevent demonstrations a year after the Indian government scrapped the constitutional provisions of autonomy in Article 370 and 35A, dissolved Kashmir’s state assembly and split the region into two union territories. The government also surged paramilitary troops, instituted months of communications blackouts and curfews, and detained thousands of person.
