In another attack by so-called "Islamists" in the south of the Philippines, two members of the police forces were killed and two others were wounded.

According to information from various media two men on a motorcycle approached to a police station in Parang town in Sulu province at saturday evening and opened the fire with an assault rifle. The following gunfight lasted round about 30 minutes, four police men were hit, two of them died on the way to the hospital. Despite the deployment armed special forces and other reinforcements the attackers managed to retreat without any losses.

A police investigator has allegedly told The Associated Press(AP News) that the attackers could also be drug dealers. However, the resistance fighters in this region are strong and there are repeated military operations by the Philippine state, without much success. The attack we reported last week was on the same island.
