On Monday, the comrades of the Revolutionary Construction published a call for a nationwide Day if Action in order to support the struggles of the political prisoners in India. On this day, the 23rd of April, they ask friends and comrades to express their solidarity with those incarcerated by the Indian reaction in actions all throughout Germany. Comrades sympathetic with this have forwarded us a translation that we gladly publish:

Call for the nationwide Day of Action in Support of the Struggle of Political Prisoners in India

It’s right to rebel! - This is more then obvious, if we take a glance on how one of the most populated countries in the world came to be the prison house of the people’s movements at the hands of the imperialists. Hundred-thousands of poor peasants rise against their displacement by reactionary militias serving foreign mining companies, of women fight against the brutal patriarchal violence they experience day by day, of protests erupt at universities against the increasing deeper cut backs of democratic rights. Who ever raises his voice against the semi-colonial, semi-feudal conditions is branded a terrorist by the Indian reaction and hunted down. Their answer to any kind of protest and resistance is repression, which is affecting especially the poorest of the poor, the lowest castes and the outcastes.

In the overcrowded jails of the old Indian state, more then 10.000 political prisoners are incarcerated under inhumane conditions. And this development is not slowing down, everyday the number of detainees rises. They are exposed to constant arbitrariness, humiliation and torture. On of the most prominent cases in this regard, is the one of Prof. G. N. Saibaba, who is imprisoned for more then three years now without conviction. On his way to work at the University of New Delhi,  Saibaba was abducted by special forces in 2014. In prison, the 90% disabled professor is, among other things, denied his wheelchair and vital medicine.

In order to lead the just struggle of the masses, so it will not be fully smashed from on day to another and its best fighters imprisoned, and to serve the revolution in India, the Communist Party of India (M-L) was founded on the 22th of April 1969 in the aftermath of the Naxalbari uprising 1967. Inspired by the heroic struggles of the masses of China and the most outstanding struggles of the international proletariat and learning for their experiences, the CPI (Maoist) is the consequent continuation of this ambition.

Most notably it is their prisoners, prisoners like comrades Ajith and Kobal Ghandy, who develop the struggle in the slammers of the reaction for better detention conditions, despite frequent prison transfers. All fighters of the People’s Guerrilla Liberation Army are Prisoners of War in the jails of the reaction. We demand their recognition as revolutionary Prisoners of War and, as such, the enforcement of their rights, like the right of consolidation, which we also demand for the political prisoners!

On occasion of the 49th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Communist Party of India (M-L) in the Year of the 200th Birthday of the great Karl Marx we call for a nationwide Day of Action in Support of the Struggle of Political Prisoners in India on 23th of April 2018. We call upon all friends and comrades to develop actions throughout the country in their respective cities to the best of their abilities in order to support the struggle of the political prisoners in India.

With the “Operation Green Hunt” initiated in 2009, the reaction has increased its terror onto vast sections of the people even more. By now, they do not only aim to take prisoners but have passed onto simply slaughtering sections of the people. Under the pretense of the “War on Terror” and the war against the Maoists, they bomb whole areas and lay waste to villages. Time and time again reports surface, about Maoists supposedly fallen in combat, who are often only murdered peasants, afterwards dressed in uniforms the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army.

But the reactions campaign of terror is in vain. Instead of breaking the bond between the people and its army, the reaction yet again proofs its sickening, arch reactionary stance and hence spurs rebellion. The People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army continues to have successful actions anyway. Wherever the reaction was crushingly defeated, the Revolutionary People’s Committees organize the new Power, allocate half of the land to the women, struggle against the over-exploitation of the forests, etc. They are fulfilled with determination and revolutionary optimism. On this day of action let us proof through vigorous actions, that their optimism is as justified as their rebellion.

Support the Struggle of the Political Prisoners in India!
Recognize the Prisoners of War!
Support the People’s War in India!

Unfold vigorous actions as part of the nationwide Day of Action on the 23rd of April!
